Tony Sansalone, WI Humanities Director of Development

Please welcome Tony Sansalone to the WH team!

We are excited to introduce Tony, our new Director of Development!

Hi, I’m Tony! Over the past few weeks, I’ve hit the ground running in my new role as Director of Development at Wisconsin Humanities. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Business through the Bolz Center for Arts Administration. My journey in arts administration started at the Mansfield Art Center in Ohio, where I served as the Grants and Outreach Coordinator. Working at my hometown art center was an eye-opening experience, allowing me to witness the transformative impact nonprofits have on both communities and individuals. At the MAC, I spearheaded programs that empowered vulnerable individuals with the opportunity to express themselves through art.

As a practicing artist myself, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Art from Bowling Green State University (Ohio). My focus lies in portrait and figurative art, primarily through drawing using charcoal. Drawing allows me to connect with my family’s story and elevate our relationship. Beyond the drawing medium, I have a tremendous amount of experience in painting, printmaking, glassblowing, ceramics, and tufting.

Wisconsin has captured my heart. Having grown up in the Midwest, I appreciate the similarities and differences in everyday life. What remains consistent is the dedication of good people who make our communities vibrant places to live. In my role, I’m excited to build meaningful relationships, learn from the knowledgeable board and staff, and continue the impactful work of my wonderful predecessor, Gail Kohl, has had on WH over the past decade.

I feel honored to connect with Wisconsinites, sharing their stories and exploring the beauty of our remarkable state. To end with a quote by my favorite artist, Taylor Swift, “I don’t know how it gets better than this.”

I look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Tony

P.S. Yes, that is a photo of my mom and me at a Taylor Swift concert!
