Ways to Connect with Wisconsin Humanities During Program Hiatus
Wisconsin Humanities' grant program and Community Powered training program went on hiatus due to the cancellation of our federal general operating support grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in April 2025. We hope that Congress and the NEH will renew funding in the 2026 federal fiscal year - support that all state humanities councils had for over 50 years as the official state affiliates of the NEH.
Thanks to state and private funding, WE OPENED ONE GRANT ROUND in January 2026 WITH A DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS OF MARCH 16, 2026. Don't miss this opportunity! Subscribe to WH's enewsletter with the link at the bottom of this page to stay up-to-date on all Wisconsin Humanities news. Grant Program
We’re pleased to reopen the WH grant program in January with one Spring 2026 grant cycle, thanks to support from the Universities of Wisconsin, the state of Wisconsin, and private donors. These critical funds lead to enriched education, community engagement, cultural preservation, and stronger civic relationships in communities all over the state. Federal funding is necessary for WH to fully restart the grant program and other initiatives that were halted after more than 50 years of service as the state’s official affiliate of the NEH.
